5 Ways to Coordinate Jewelry with Your Outfit
There are endless combinations to choose from in the average wardrobe. For women, “what to wear” can be a particularly difficult task to accomplish. Yet somehow, we make it out of bed, make an outfit selection, and go through the motions of our busy lives. Everything from our hairstyles and makeup, to wardrobe and shoes should be carefully selected to create a fashionable ensemble.
After all of these choices are made, it’s important to pay attention to detail. Jewelry, whether costume or fine, can really tie the knot on ones outfit. Here are some good ways to coordinate jewelry with your outfit:
The jewelry should always match the occasion: Are you wearing a ballroom gown? Is the occasion a business meeting? Your jewelry choices on an average Tuesday should never be the same as your selections for a gala or even for a fancy restaurant. Try toning your jewelry down with smaller pieces for more reserved instance and glam it up when you’re out on the town.
Choose earrings that will draw attention to your face: Jewelry shouldn’t only match your outfit, but it should also work well with your complexion. Everyone’s face shape and skin tone are unique, but we can suggest that a nice pair of diamond studs are universal.
Personalization: A cute way to escalate a casual outfit is to add a piece of personalized jewelry. A monogram on a pendant or ring is a fun, and simple way to put a unique spin on your favorite pieces. Floyd and Green offers a wide array of personalized rings, pendants, earrings, and bracelets, as well as affordable engraving services to add that “personal touch”.
Cuts and necklines: Necklaces can really make a statement when paired with the right outfit. If you’re wearing something with a deep V neckline, try pairing it with a layered strand necklace. If you’re opting for something off the shoulder, try a statement collar piece. Can’t find the right necklace to go with your turtleneck? Geometric chokers work very well in tandem with turtlenecks.
Wearing the right amount: Unlike most aesthetics; for jewelry, less is not necessarily more. Here at Floyd and Green, we carry plenty of lines such as Kendra Scott and John Hardy, whose bracelets are perfect for mix-and-matching. Our collections of stackable Pandora rings are another great way to add a few accessories for both the casual get-together, as well as the professional business setting.
Jewelry and the clothes you wear are an expression of who you are, and while these are just a few general rules, you should wear what makes you look your best. Come see us at Floyd and Green Jewelers today to find the perfect pieces for you.Read More

What’s So Special About Forevermark?
Have you been shopping around for the perfect diamond ring, necklace or pair of earrings? A good place to start is with Forevermark jewelry. This brand produces some of the world’s finest diamonds to create remarkable pieces of jewelry for any occasion. Less than 1 percent of the world’s diamonds become a part of the Forevermark brand, which is what makes the brand so unique.
Forevermark is a part of The De Beers Group of Companies, which has a history of more than 125 years in the diamond business. Before diamonds wear the Forevermark inscription, the diamonds are taken through a lengthy process to ensure it meets the standards of beauty, rarity and responsible sourcing.
Sourcing & Sorting
The diamonds are mined deep below ground from oceans in carefully selected mines in countries like South Africa, Botswana and Canada. The mines are selected based on the requirement to uphold business, social and environmental standards. Once mined, the diamonds are sorted through by master diamond sorters. They choose which diamonds, based on certain characteristics, will continue through the selection process.
Cutting & Polishing
After the sorting process, the selected diamonds are then cut by master craftsmen who use their craftsmanship and technological innovation to specifically cut the diamonds to Forevermark standards. The diamond is then polished, graded against a set of standards, and classified.
Selection & Grading
Forevermark diamonds go beyond the standard 4Cs criteria (color, clarity, cut and carat). They are sent to the Forevermark Diamond Institute where trained diamond selectors take the diamond through, at minimum, a 17-step process to check for any flaws or imperfections and to check for authenticity and other specifics. Diamonds over half a carat are then given a Forevermark Grading Report by an expert gemologist.
Once a diamond has made it through the Forevermark process, it will be worthy to bare the Forevermark inscription. This inscription signifies that the diamond is beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced.
Floyd & Green Jewelers is an authorized Forevermark jeweler. Stop in the store to find a loose diamond that can be placed in a jewelry setting or you can find a finished piece that fits your style. Either way, you can be sure that you are getting a diamond like no other through Forevermark.

Finding the Perfect Anniversary Band
Many couples celebrate their anniversaries with special gifts for their spouse, and sometimes that gift can be an anniversary band. Just like the engagement ring and wedding band, the anniversary band should be a well thought out gift for your spouse.
One of the first things to consider when choosing an anniversary band is what anniversary year are you celebrating? Is it your first, your third? Certain metals and stones represent specific milestones, and it’s good to be aware of those before picking out the ring. For your first anniversary, choose a gold band, it’s perfect to commemorate the love and specials moments you’ve gone through in your first year of being married. For couples celebrating their fifth anniversary, sapphire is the go-to stone. And for those in their 10th year, a diamond band is what you should go for. Diamonds are a great gift to celebrate the milestone of making it to 10 years.
Even if you decide to buy an anniversary band on an “off year,” like the second or third anniversary, it’s still a good idea to make sure this new ring complements your spouse’s engagement and wedding rings. If your spouse’s wedding ring is already embellished with lots of diamonds or stones, you may want to find an anniversary band that is a little subtler, that way, the rings won’t clash if worn on the same finger. Some people love mixing metals when it comes to their jewelry, and others don’t. So, you need to figure out what your spouse’s personal style is to ensure the anniversary band you choose will be one they’ll want to wear all the time.
Other options for finding the perfect anniversary band are to design your own ring, or find estate rings that could work for your spouse. If you’re going to design the ring, you should pay attention to the time it will take to get the ring back because you don’t want it arriving days or weeks after your anniversary date. Estate rings offer a more unique and vintage look for those who prefer that style.
There’s no set rule on which finger or hand an anniversary band should be worn, but taking the style and metal choice into consideration is important so your spouse can make that decision easily. Whatever ring you choose, it should represent the love and commitment you have for your spouse. We can help you find what you’re looking for right here at Floyd and Green Jewelers!Read More
Picking out the perfect wedding band to complement an engagement ring can be a very detailed and lengthy process for women, but for men, when you’re not necessarily “matching” another ring, it’s tough to know where to start. Your wedding band will be a piece that you will wear for the rest of your life, so there should definitely be some thought put into it, but it shouldn’t be a painful process. So, how can you make shopping for a men’s wedding band less stressful? Here are some simple tips to picking the right one for you.
When picking out your ring, here are six things you should consider: width, metal, fit, finish, detailing and engraving. To determine what width you’d prefer for your ring, you should try on a few different bands in different widths and see which one fits your hand the best. Pick the one that you feel sits on your finger most comfortably.
Wedding bands can be made from a few different metals, and the one you choose could be determined by your personal preference, but also the price and the way your skin reacts to the specific metal. Men’s wedding bands are usually made from either platinum, white gold, yellow gold, palladium, or rose gold. Platinum bands are very durable, but come with a higher price. For a similar look, white gold and palladium bands are a good option with a lower price. Yellow gold bands generally give a more classic look, and rose gold bands are a great option if you’re looking for something less common.
Once you’ve chosen the metal you like best, then the finish of the band comes into play. Do you like a shiny ring? Then a high polish band may be for you. Or are you not a flashy type of guy? Then a matte finish band may be the option you’d like best. There are also combination finishes that give the ring a less shiny look, but not a completely matte look either.
As mentioned before, this ring will be one that you’ll wear for the rest of your life. Because the edges of men’s bands can be curved or flat, you should make sure to try on a few different rings to figure out which feels the best on your hand.
Lastly, if you’d like a little something extra on your ring, you can consider detailing or engraving the band. You can add diamond or other stone accents, or you can get your wedding date, your fiancé’s initials, or something else of importance engraved inside the ring.
It’s that simple. Choosing your wedding band doesn’t have to be a complicated process, and when you’re ready to find yours, come see us at Floyd and Green Jewelers today!Read More
Many women dream of being proposed to with the perfect engagement ring, but what about the perfect wedding band? Wedding bands are just as important as the sparkly engagement rings women wear, so it’s a good idea to put some time and thought into what your wedding band will look like. It’s a symbol that you’ve transitioned from engaged to married, and you’ll wear it for the rest of your life. Here are some great tips on how to find the best wedding band to complement your engagement ring.
Engagement rings come in a variety of settings like the channel setting, the halo, and the prong. The setting will really help you narrow down what type of wedding band will look best with your ring. Based on your ring, you also want to take into consideration whether you want your wedding band to sit flush next to your engagement ring or if you don’t mind a little space between the two.
It’s quite natural for someone to pick the same metal for both their engagement ring and wedding band. If you have a white gold ring, then your band will also be white gold. Though sometimes, people don’t mind mixing metals. If you feel your white gold ring would look great with a platinum band, then go for it. You can even try to find a wedding band that incorporates more than one metal, and that way you want have to settle for one metal over another.
Here are a few examples of styles of engagement rings that usually pair best with the different styles of wedding bands:
- Solitaire engagement rings and notched or curved bands – These types of bands really complement the diamond in your ring and can make the stone appear larger.
- Halo engagement rings and Pavé bands – Pavé bands are great options for most engagement rings, but they can add that extra sparkle to your Halo setting.
- Colored engagement rings and colored bands – Keeping the theme of a specific color for your ring and your band bring a nice cohesiveness and will make your two rings look as though they were made exactly for you.
We hope these tips have helped you narrow done your search for the perfect wedding band, but the choice is ultimately up to your style. Choose something that makes you feel comfortable and something you feel is the most beautiful on you. At Floyd and Green Jewelers, we’ll make sure to help you find the right piece that you’ll love forever.Read More
We all love estate jewelry because there are so many amazingly unique pieces that you can buy. Have you ever bought a piece of jewelry that was owned by someone famous? How about a piece that was owned by royalty? Well, that’s exactly what a bidder did when they bid $6.7 million for a blue diamond once owned by the Queen of Spain Elisabeth Farnese.
The diamond, which is 6.16 carats, was owned by the Queen more than 300 years ago. The “Farnese Blue,” was originally given to the Queen as a wedding gift in 1715 by the governor of the Philippine Islands. It is a pear-shaped, fancy dark grey-blue diamond that made its way around Europe for generations and generations as members of the Queen’s family married off.
Sotheby’s Geneva auction house was lucky enough to get their hands on the diamond to be auctioned off in Geneva. The bidding began at $3.6 million and bidders fought hard for it, bidding in $100,000 increments until they reached the $6.7 million mark.
Although the Farnese Blue was priced extremely high, the auction house has seen higher. They once auctioned off two diamonds, each weighing more than 50 carats. The round, brilliant-cut diamond weighed 51.71 carats and sold for $9.2 million, and the oval diamond weighed 50.39 carats and sold for $8.1 million.
You never know what kind of jewelry you’ll find and the story behind it while shopping for estate jewelry, which makes it so much fun. You can find great pieces at our store and right here on our website. Stop in to see us today for all your jewelry needs!Read More
